Grey Water Discharge

Grey Water: Dispose of It Safely
Grey water—water from sinks, showers, and laundry—please manage correctly. Per Township Code Section 25-801, any drain or conveyance, whether on the surface or subsurface, that allows any non-stormwater discharge, including sewage, process wastewater, and wash water to enter the waters of the commonwealth is prohibited. All grey water is required to discharge into the on-site septic system.

Here’s how to keep it safe for people and the environment:

Maintain Grey Water Properly
Use eco-friendly, biodegradable soaps and detergents
Keep systems clean to prevent odors and buildup
Avoid letting grey water sit.

Dispose Responsibly
Never discharge grey water into storm drains, streets, or waterways
Direct it to your on-lot septic systems.

Why It Matters
Proper grey water management protects waterways and reduces pollution.

Let’s do our part—smart water use today means a healthier environment tomorrow.
