Sewer & Water

Wrightstown is a rural Township which has no public water and sewer. All water service is provided by individual wells while sewer effluent is handled by on-site septic, sand mound or spray irrigation systems. Matthew Ridge and Jane Chapman East are serviced by sewer package plants, operated by the Township. Residents in this area pay a quarterly fee for operation and maintenance of these plants.

Please note that property owners cannot be changed on the bills without receipt of an updated deed and below sewer disclosure.

Please help keep our sewer package plants operational with these tips!

Sewer Plants (especially smaller plants like Matthew Ridge and Jane Chapman East) can be affected by a leaking toilet, illegal hookups from sump pumps etc.  These issues can lead to costly maintenance issues that will affect the costs of the quarterly fees.

Here are some tips to prevent these issues:

  • Never pour grease or oil down a drain
  • Avoid flushing non-flushable items. Most paper towels, reusable wipes, and feminine hygiene products can accumulate along the sewer line path, creating clogs that can back up a sewage system.
  • Never connect roof drains, downspouts or sump pumps to the sewer drainpipes.
  • Please fix any plumbing leaks.

Water

All properties in Wrightstown are served by private wells.  There is no requirement by the Township to test your well, but EPA and DEP encourage homeowners to test your water on an annual basis.  To view information on having your well water tested, please visit the Bucks County Health Department site.  Please note that the $25 test kit offered by the County, only tests for Bacteriological Contamination (Coliform Organisms).  There is a PDF on this site that gives you a listing of certified drinking water testing labs that can test for other things like nitrates, PFAS etc.
