Here we go again! ❄️❄️❄️
Potential Snowstorm for Sunday to Monday Morning
Well, there is not really a consensus regarding the weather, but it looks like we could see anywhere from an inch to 5 inches or more.
Majority of the snow will fall and stick Sunday afternoon/evening and overnight into early Monday morning. The Monday morning commute may be impacted so please drive carefully on Monday. The good news is that the temperatures should remain near or slightly below freezing during the storm and then next week should be milder.
Please help our Public Works Crews by limiting your travel during the peak of the storm- stay home if possible and do not park any vehicles on the roadways as the Crews are cleaning up the roads, especially overnight on Sunday.
Thank you for your cooperation!
Information on how the crews handle snow cleanup:
As snow begins to accumulate, the Township concentrates on certain roads. The first streets that receive attention are the major roads (or "Priority One" roads). As long as the snow keeps falling, the Township's first priority is to keep the main roads open and passable. In such instances, it is unlikely that residential roads will be reached immediately, because the main roads must be repeatedly plowed and kept open. High priority is also given to the clearing of major streets so that emergency vehicles can gain access to all parts of the Township. As soon as all major streets are clear, equipment is immediately moved into residential areas.
In order to assist our Public Works Crews and First Responders as they keep us safe, please do your part by doing the following: Please see Township Code Sections 21-301-21-303 (https://ecode360.com/31990482)
- Remove all vehicles from the roadway for the duration of the storm- no parking on any roadways in the Township- no exceptions! We have asked this in the past and unfortunately it has not been followed by everyone- this is the last warning that any vehicle left on the roadway will be towed - this hinders our plow operations and is dangerous. Please park all of your vehicles in your driveways!
- If you do not need to be out, please stay off the roadways- it makes it easier for our public works crews to keep the roadways clear.
- Please keep your distance from our plow trucks as they are working to keep the roadways clear.
- No snow or ice should be deposited back on the roadways- if you or your contractor is plowing your driveways, please keep the snow on your property and do not plow it across a roadway- this can leave snow and ice on the roadways and cause a hazard.
- Please be considerate of your neighbors- please shovel the snow onto your property not your neighbors.
